Lights. Camera. Action.

In this post, as promised, I’ll give you an insight of what’s it like to be an intern at the fashion shoot.

The day has started around 10 am at Shoreditch Studios. The atmosphere, as per usual, was extremely positive and lively. Myself and the fashion director’s assistant started off with putting out endless rails of stunning clothing and lining up pairs of shoes. The amount of clothes that we got to work with today could have easily been enough to open up a small shop! At that point I couldn’t contain the excitement :D.

Majority of the outfits are selected in advance and divided between the models, which certainly makes life easier for everyone, however, fashion is fashion and things do get changed around a lot. Sometimes, something you’ve put together on the rail does not look as exciting on the picture and last minute adaptations must be made.

As well as helping out the director with her outfits, we got to style our won. What a great opportunity to show off your skills and also to learn from others! We have put three different outfits together and had the chance to get them captured too! 🙂

Through out the day you get to meet many people, models, make-up artists, hair stylists, photographers etc. Because the atmosphere is so chilled out, you actually get the chance to talk to people and get to know them. If you’re an intern, its an excellent opportunity for you to make new connections and keep them for the future.

One of the lovely models.

Overall the day is long and pretty tiring but is also extremely enjoyable and rewarding. I’ve had the chance to engage in so many activities, everything, from the usual tea making to styling the models. I think having an experience such as this one will be extremely beneficial for every fashion student, regardless of the area of the industry that they are studying.

As a fashion magazine lover, I enjoyed discovering what is actually hiding behind the glossy pages. But what I enjoyed even more, is being a part of it and knowing that soon, there will be a published hard copy, which was crated with my help :).

Not forgetting the importance of teas and coffees.
Of course, much required mirror selfie xP
