With such a large variety of styles, fabrics, colours and textures, there will always be some things that we love more than others. We chose few favourites from the thousands of options and dismiss the rest for good, all depending on our individual styles and preferences. Whilst I try to stay very open-minded about fashion, I too have some items that I thought I would never wear…
When I was 13 I never ever thought I that I would be wearing anything high-waisted, now its my favourite rise. When I was 15 I believed that sports brands were acceptable to wear on daily basis – boy was I wrong, and when I was 18 I though that i would never be caught dead in anything lower than 5inch heel. But just like everything else, times change and our ideals of “stylish” go from one to another.
“In fashion, just like in life, keeping your mind open is extremely important”
Until now, I have never been a fan of anything lace-y. I still don’t think I fully am a fan, but somehow this TOPSHOP number has converted me just for a little while. Before, I always associated lace with either wedding dresses or tacky body-con types with lace trims (you know which ones I mean, I’m sure). But in fashion, just like in life, keeping your mind open is extremely important, as it will give you an opportunity to see things in a different light, and possibly even change your mind about them. So here I am, a lace-hater wearing a lace top!
Paired with an on-trend denim, whether it be jeans, cut-offs or even a denim skirt, I see this top going from grandma’s closet straight to street-style online pages (AKA Instagram). Moreover, it compliments summer tan so beautifully and the flower detailed hem has that serious “dreamy” vibe. So I guess my open mind has lead to an open closet. Open for something I thought I would never wear – lace.
